After lunch, our tour continues with a visit of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Piazza del Duomo and its surroundings. Piazza del Duomo is, together with Piazza San Giovanni, the center of the city. The most important religious monuments of Florence stand out, linked together by the lively polychrome of the typical white, green and pink marble cladding with geometric designs: the Baptistery (exterior), with its octagonal shape, in which the three portals have three bronze doors of great importance, the Duomo, in Gothic style with the famous dome by Brunelleschi, the Giotto’s Bell Tower (exterior), one of the most beautiful bell towers of Gothic architecture, started by Giotto in 1334 and completed by Pisano and Talenti. DAY 4
FLORENCIA – SAN MARINO
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, one of the highlights of the trip awaits us. At the scheduled time we will leave for San Marino, one of the smallest countries in the world, the document recognizes the autonomy is 885. Since then, with the exception of a short occupation, it has always been recognized internationally as an independent Republic. The town has a medieval appearance, with narrow streets opening onto small squares, well preserved. Parts of the walls and some parts of the three plumes, the defense fortresses at the top of Mount Titan, which offers a wide view, are medieval. The tour begins at the Republic of Liberty Square, panoramic center of the city, overlooking the Public Palace, or government, built at the end of the last century in the forms of the fourteenth century, with sumptuous interior. Just above the square is the neoclassical basilica of San Marino. Nearby, the Wax Museum of local characters and opera. On the three peaks of the ridge of Mount Titano almost vertically on the plain, are the three bastions or pens. The first, called La Rocca Guaita or, perhaps it goes back centuries. XI and was rebuilt in the ‘400 and later; the second, called Cesta, the thirteenth century but rebuilt, houses the Museum of ancient weapons; The third, called Montale, is the ‘200. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 5
SAN MARINO – ASSISI
Breakfast. Today we will head to Assisi. Upon arrival we will start with the visit of the city. The tour begins with a visit to the Roman Amphitheater, up to the Duomo of S. Ruffino, dedicated to the patron saint and built from 1140 and consecrated in 1228. It goes down to reach the Basilica of S. Chiara which resembles the facade of the upper basilica of S. Francesco: the period of construction (mid 1200), the simplicity of the Gothic lines, the three horizontal orders, the pink and white stone of the Subasio, an ornate portal. The Gothic interior with a Latin cross has a nave divided into four compartments, with columns, transept and polygonal apse. The crypt houses the body of the saint. Going down from the square to Calle S. Francisco, you reach the Basilica of the same name, which is next to it and ideally overlooks the entire city. The Pope laid the foundation stone in 1228, giving the charge to Friar Elias, companion of Francis, to erect a church to house the body of the Saint, a Convent and a palace to host the Popes. In the crypt, the body of the Saint was placed, and then walled up for fear that the enemies of Perugia would steal it. Once the lower basilica was completed, the upper basilica was erected and consecrated by the Pope in 1253. It stands out very much for its gothic structure and its brightness with respect to the lower church. Inside, on the upper part of the walls, there is a series of frescoes, partly by painters of the Roman school (especially Torriti) and partly by the followers of Cimabue, such as Duccio and especially the beginner Giotto. On the lower part of the walls, there is Giotto’s famous cycle of frescoes, in 28 panels depicting episodes from the life of St. Francis, which the master began painting in 1296. Important: For the visit to the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, the use of headphones is mandatory. Important: on Sundays and holidays, it is possible to visit the interior without the explanation of the guide, who will illustrate the basilica from the outside. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 6

Siena is a magnificent artistic city with its characteristic narrow streets, neighborhoods and towers, artisan stores and palaces that make it an unmissable destination for Italian and foreign tourists. We will visit the church that gives its name to the square: an imposing Gothic building built by the Dominicans between 1226 and 1465. We will then continue to Palazzo Tolomei: the oldest private palace in the city. Passing through Via di Città, one of the most elegant and emblematic streets, we will reach Piazza del Duomo where we will admire the largest monument of the city and one of the most beautiful creations of Italian Gothic: the Cathedral of Siena (exterior).
